Thread Count
Sheet quality is measured by thread count. Thread count tells you how many threads there are per square inch. The higher the thread count the better quality the sheet, up to about 400 or 600. Sheets with thread counts over 400 are harder to take care of and are more expensive. But the advantage of the higher thread count sheets is that they tend to be full flat sheet or king or queen sized, the thread count is always the measurement of the quality of the sheet.

Types of Fabrics
Types of fabrics used in sheets include cotton, cotton/poly blends, cotton sateen, Egyptian cotton. Egyptian sheets are made from cotton that's grown in Egypt. They are usually more expensive and of a higher quality than most types of cotton sheets. Satin sheets are also popular. And don't forget those silk sheets! Nowadays, there are "green" sheets, made from organic cotton and bamboo, too.
