* Don't stay in the building any longer than necessary to escape. Don't try to salvage anything.

doorknob that feels hot when you touch it, so don't open any doors that emit that kind of heat.
* As soon as you have escaped, meet at an agree upon location with others.
* Do not attempt to go back into the building once you've evacuated. Chances are, you won't be as lucky to get back out.
* Notify the fire department as soon as you are safe, and let them know if anyone is missing.
