Sometimes it may be difficult to have a regular bowel movement, which is called constipation. Constipation can be easily relieved with dietary fiber per day.
Some children.
Process of digestion
After eating a meal, the food is digested. During the digestion process, food mixed with digestive juices enters the small intestine. The body absorbs all the intestine whose main function is to turn the solid waste into a stool. Sometimes constipation occurs when too much water is absorbed in the large intestine leaving a hardened stool.
Suppositories
Suppositories are laxatives that are inserted in the rectum and are usually in an easy to insert form such as a capsule. This method produces a bowel movement within hours rather than the slow acting bulk agent laxatives. There are various suppositories available.
* Suppositories with potassium bitartrate and sodium bicarbonate form carbon dioxide in the bowels. The carbon dioxide gas then pushes the intestinal wall, which causes muscle contractions and allows for a bowel movement to take place.
* Suppositories made with glycerin or sodium phosphates are known as hyperosmotic laxatives. They bring water into the bowel from surrounding body tissue which then softens the stool and promotes a bowel movement.
* Glycerin suppositories lubricate the outside opening to the intestine which then makes it easier to pass hard stools. The lubricating action helps the stool to retain water and slide out of the body with ease.
