Feng Shui Guide

Feng shui, which translates to "wind and water," is the ancient Chinese art of design and placement. This tradition is 4,000 years old and is based on the idea that our chi, or life energy, is continually flowing everywhere. Feng shui tries to balance our chi. feng shui books before you consult experts.

Bagua Map

The most important tool in feng shui is the bagua map. Bagua means "eight areas" in Chinese and it is a map that relates the areas of your life to the eight living areas of your space. The eight areas of your life are fame, wealth, family, knowledge/spirituality, career, helpful people/travel, children/creativity, and relationships/marriage. Bedroom

Your bedroom is one of your most important rooms. It is your sanctuary, it is where you rest at night. It is very important to have a calm and peaceful chi in your bedroom.

Living Room

The living room is where people gather, meet, and entertain. It is also a place where the family spends time together so it is very important to have a good energy in the living room.

Kitchen

The kitchen is considered the most important room in feng shui. It is where you nourish your body, it is how you sustain life. It is good not to have the kitchen close to your main door because your chi could escape. Besides the arrangement of your kitchen, it is equally important to eat good, healthy food.

Bathroom

Unfortunately there really is no good place for a bathroom since feng shui was developed before indoor plumbing. However, there are still ways to make your modern bathroom fill with positive chi.

Dining Room

The dining room has become neglected over the years, only being used for formal occasions or sometimes not at all. Don't let your dining room become a storage space full of clutter. Instead, make it an open space allowing chi to flow through the room and energize the house.
