Spring Pins Buying Guide

You start seeing things around the house aren't working the best. Some of the metal parts need to be replaced on the durability and material. They are often relatively cheap because they are small and common.

Types

ASME. They have chamfered edges (45 degree slanted cuts) to help with insertion and assembly. This pin provides continuous pressure towards the inner sides of the hole to prevent loosening. * ISO pins sometimes interlock with other pins during shipment. ASME pins were invented to stop the pins from interlocking while retaining the product design. * Slotted pins are troublesome for automated machinery. shock absorbent and provide stress distribution. They allow for wider hole tolerances and don't wear or tear softer material as easily. *  They cannot interlock, even though chamfered. * They are burr-free and will not "bite" into the hole walls upon insertion.

How Spring Pin Measurement Works

Tubing and piping is measured either by outside diameter, inside diameter or nominal diameter. Spring pins, specifically, are most safely measured by the nominal. They will be listed with a maximum and minimum diameter range because they are flexible to some extent.
