Fall Makeup Guide

Fall is right around the corner and before you know it the leaves will be turning vibrant shades of gold, red and brown. Now is the perfect time to clean out your makeup bag  and toss out all those old, half-used products that haven't seen the light of day in years, and invest in some of the most versatile new colors and products that will carry your makeup routine gracefully into the winter months. This includes mascaras ,lipsticks , bright and exotic eye shadows  and sultry eyeliners .

Then and Now

The dominant 2010 fall makeup trend are split between barely there and full on glam. The lighter look of sheer foundation and dark smokey eyes of Fall '09 are still in vogue, but this year, an overall natural look is the big thing, especially for your day-to-day routine. Nude lipstick, minimal coverage with a little bit of glow and just a touch of mascara create an easy, fresh look for the colder months. If that's too little makeup for you to bear, don't worry! For eyeshadow lovers, bright, neon eye shadows will make your eyes pop. Using two or more colors for both eye lids and under the eye is the way to make a bold statement. Ruby red lips are also all over the runways. Keep everything else simple and low key and find your perfect red, then work it! Here is what's in.

IN: Eyelashes, from barely there to full and natural. Lancôme Fatale , shown here, gives you seriously fat lashes that look natural.

IN:Bright red lipstick that will make your lips pop. Shown here is Kat Von D's Hellbent  lipstick.

IN: Structured cheeks with contour and subtle color. You'll need a base foundation, natural blush and highlighter to pull this off

IN: Smoky eyes in classic grays and blacks are in. Keeper it lighter above the eye and darker below the eye for a striking look.

Perfect Brows

Great skin is always in and always has been, but what has been getting more attention lately are eyebrows! Having clean brows with a gentle, but nicely defined arch can really make your eyes pop. Plus, what's great about having perfect brows is that, even without makeup on (or very little on), you'll still look beautiful. Unlike a few years ago when brows were tweezed  so thin and angled so harshly that it gave you a headache just looking at them, this Fall give the trend is to give them a break. Let them grow in for a change. Once they do, you can get them professionally shaped so that they enhance your face. From then on, it's up to you to keep them well-manicured. Here are some of the newest brow kits  to try this fall.

So Fresh and So Clean

One trend that has lived on over the years is the luminating concealer brush . It is essentially a concentrated liquid concealer  that comes in a tube. On one end is a concealer brush, and on the other is a mechanical twist mechanism. It's like having a liquid concealer and concealer brush combined into one easy to carry makeup item. To use, just twist and click and the concealer will rise up out of the tube into the brush. Instead of using a finger to apply the concealer you just paint it on with the soft brush. This is an extra gentle method of applying eye makeup so that you won't damage the soft tissue around your eyes, a major cause of puffiness and dark circles.

The great thing about the concealer is that it's infused with illuminating minerals to give your eyes a bright, wide awake look. Some even have a cooling factor to them so that tired, red eyes will feel soothed. There are also concealer brushes for the rest of your face too.

Here are a few brands to try out.

Getting That Natural Look

This season is all about the natural, fresh-faced look during the day. It may be scary to some who live and die by their makeup, but done right you can look radiant. It'll also save you a lot of time applying make up in the morning.

Nude Lips

A nude color will give you just a enough coverage to make your lips glisten. If you want a little more color, light pink lipstick  is a great pick.

Sheer Foundation

Minimal coverage will keep you from having that caked up look, but still give you an even surface.

Natural Blush

Stay away from harsh pinks or reds, and go with something closer to your skin tone. Apply just enough to make your cheek bones stand out.

Minimal Mascara

Stay away from mascara that will make things too thick and dark and go for something that instead enhances what you already have.

Facial Cleanser

If your look is going to come together, you need to keep your face clean and blemish free.

Fall in Love with These Colors

Bright neons and two toned eyeshadows, as well as the darker smokey eye, is the trend for this season. Don't be afraid to go a little bold. Here are some suggestions to keep you in style for the fall season.

Bourjois Noir & Blanc Eye Pencil

Line the outside in black and the inner rims with white. Use together or separate to create intense eyes. These colors will be classic now and later.

4-Colour Liquid Metal Palette

Orange and yellow will give your eyes a spark, while the gray and brown can be added to keep things grounded.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

If bright eyeshadow isn't your thing, try instead a more natural lid paired with these colorful liners.

Yves Saint Lauren Red Taboo Lipstick

Bring out your inner vixen with this eye catching red lipstick this fall.

Liquid Eye Liner

Take your pick for the brand, but keep it black. Use it on the upper eyelid only to create a mod-'60s look or just dot it along lashes for emphasis.
