About Boomboxes
A boombox, also known as a portable CD player, is usually a small device that is lightweight and easy to carry. It is capable of playing AM and FM radio stations and CDs. Some will still allow you to play cassette tapes and newer models will allow you to hook up an MP3 player. A boombox is powered by either batteries or plugged into an electrical outlet.
Boomboxes were introduced in late 1970's but became popular in 1980's. Different designs were made until manufacturers made a smaller size of boomboxes, but the sound became even louder and crisper due to advances in technology. Before, it used to be Hot Wheels though.
Boomboxes are still a popular electronic device. Most boomboxes have the capability to dock portable MP3 players. Some can utilize Archos MP3 Players
