The motorcycles.
You can't go anywhere without a drive shaft: if it breaks, you will know it. They require some mechanical know-how to install; you won't learn how to install one from this guide, but hopefully it helps.
Types of Drive Shafts
There are three main types of drive shafts, which all perform essentially the same function.
* A rear wheel drive vehicle has a drive shaft that goes from the transmission to the rear axle, longitudinally.
* A front wheel driven vehicle hardly has a drive shaft. The engine and transmission are in the front of the car next to the wheels. The axle that turns the front wheels from the transmission is sometimes referred to as the drive shaft.
* All wheel drive vehicles have both a front wheel and a rear wheel drive shaft.
Drive Shaft Parts
Some drive shafts use universal U joints and center bearings.
*drive shaft boots, the dirt and water will get into the joints and cause corrosion.
* Other useful parts include tube yokes.
