Disposable Cameras

So you thought you had to invest in a pricey camera even though you were only planning to use it once? For all you with photo-phobia, have no fear. There is a slew of one-use cameras at your disposal. From color, to black and white, to waterproof, and "digital", the market has got a key to the photography world that will open doors you never knew existed.

Standard and Digital

For your standard photos, for birthday parties, one-time events, clubbing with your pals, or even a family trip, try one of the color disposables.

  • They now come in a digital  version, which basically means that once you drop it at your developer it will be processed and you will be given not only your pictures, but also a CD with your photos on it, ready and formatted to be emailed or posted on the web.
  • If you like the idea of sending your pics through cyberspace or even just safeguarding them in another format, the digital disposable will save you a few bucks compared to buying a standard disposable and then ordering a CD with it.
  • Think about it, $10 for 27 10-megapixel photos and a way to share them with friends and family all over the world. How can you go wrong?
Waterproof and Underwater

This disposable will withstand a the pool, beach, or water park and is a fun, no-hassle, stress-free toy.

  • No worries about giving your kids creative-license because you know they won't drown your Nikon.
  • This model is by Fuji Quicksnap, and goes up to 35ft underwater.
  • It runs for around $15 without developing fees, but Kodak also makes a decent version for only $10 and it offers 800 ASA speed film as well, which is great for low-light conditions.

Black and White

Do you feel like you may have been bitten by the creativity bug?

  • Try out the artistic black and white disposable models by Kodak or Konica.
  • For around $10 you can try your hand at some abstracts, portraits, or whatever catches your fancy.
  • These cameras use C-41 processing (the same for color photos) so don't worry about developing. Plus, they can be developed as true black and white grayscale photos, or with that old sepia tone.
