Disc Golf

Disc golf is an outdoor sport where players throw flying discs into a basket. Disc golf is similar to regular golf in that the object of the game is to make your disc into the basket in as few throws as possible. Disc golf is an inexpensive sport to play, many disc golf courses are free to play on, and players of any age can participate. So if regular golf is beginning to frustrate you, rather than calm you, try your hand at disc golf. '''Useful Products:'''

Playing Disc Golf

Disc golf is usually played in public parks, so it is very important for players to be aware of pedestrians, bicyclists, animals, and other guests of the park. The first disc golf association (PDGA) was formed in 1975 by "Steady Ed" Headrick, also known as the "Father of Disc Golf." He coined and trademarked the name disc golf. Disc golf is now played in over 40 countries world wide. There are nearly 3,000 disc golf courses in the United States, Texas having the most disc golf courses of any other state. The game is usually played with single players competing against each other, or two players on a team. There are two basic kinds of throwing techniques, backhand and sidearm. Backhand throwing will get you farther distance overall, but sidearm throwing gets you farther from the starting line initially, as you push the disc forward instead of pulling it. Equipment

Discs used in disc golf are usually 8 to 9 inches in diameter, and weigh 150 to 180 grams, and are much more aerodynamic than average flying discs. Discs are divided into three categories. * Putters are designed to fly straight and slow. These discs are usually used for short distance throwing, generally on the last throw of the round. * Mid-range discs are also known as all purpose discs. They have a sharper edge than the putter, which allows them to cut through the air faster. * Drivers have the sharpest edge. Their path is very unpredictable, which makes these discs the hardest type to throw and require the most practice. They're great for long distance throwing. Drivers are divided into categories of their own based on distance. The greater the distance of the driver, the less control a player has over that disc. Different brands have different categories.
