Day of the Ninja

Day of the Ninja is a holiday created in response to Talk Like a Pirate Day, due to the ongoing (comic) conflict between ninjas and pirates. The holiday, growing increasingly popular, falls on December 5 every year. It was invented in 2003 by the creators of Ninja Burger, an online parody site claiming that ninjas secretly deliver fast food in 30 minutes or less. Day of the Ninja is celebrated by dressing like a ninja and engaging in ninja-like activities. December 5 was chosen as the lucky date because Tom Cruise's film The Last Samurai  was released on December 5, 2003. Interestingly, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest  was released on DVD on December 5, 2006, adding to the tension between pirates and ninjas.
