1930s
The 30s was the big decade for the universal monsters and is often known as the golden age. It's when THE monster movies came out, introducing us to all the classics that have been parodied and referenced today.
1940s
In the next decade we saw the emergence of the first Wolf Man movies, and several sequels to past monster flicks. Cross-overs began to be released as well.
1950s
Considered the monster revival, older films were re-released as double features and the decade saw the birth of a new monster, the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Hammer Films also began to produce their own monster movies.
