Charm Bracelets

Charm bracelets go in and out of fashion, but right now they're very popular! Bracelets remain the favorite way to show off your charms, even though charms are just as often added to necklaces . Whether you settle for the traditional style or an Italian bracelet, you're sure to have fun collecting and showing off the trinkets that are important to you. They make great gifts for Valentine's Day, Christmas, Mother's Day, and birthdays.

Traditional Charm Bracelets

Charms have been enchanting people since prehistoric times. Frequently referred to as amulets or talismans, the wearing of charms has been associated with magic, mystique, protection, spirituality and love.  The traditional charm bracelet is either gold  or silver  with plenty of links to attach the charms to the bracelet. You can buy them "pre-charmed" or just buy a basic link bracelet and add your own charms.  The latter style has the advantage of being able to hold a wide variety of charms. You might start with five or six, but in a few years you could easily have twenty dangling from your wrist.  Charms for this type of bracelet can be very detailed and you can find just about anything. You might want to add something lucky like a clover  or a personal touch like an insignia  to your bracelet .

Some really popular choices are charms that feature your birthstone . Charms can be attached by jump ring (more or less permanent) or by lobster claw clasp (can be moved around or swapped out).  Within the traditional charm bracelets you will find pearl , chain, and woven bracelets.

Italian Charm Bracelets

Italian charm bracelets  are bands that can be sold with between 17 and 20 links, but they can adjusted to fit. The only real difference is that you snap on charms  instead of letting them dangle. These have only been around for a few years, but they have become very popular. Italian charms are mostly bright and fun. They're ideal for kids and young adults, but you can find more traditional silver pieces if you want something classy.  The charms lie flat, so you never have to worry about them snagging your favorite sweater or breaking accidentally.  The charms are made with enamel so they'll last a pretty long time. For  this reason you can even consider collecting as a hobby. That way you'll have a large selection to choose  from that can mix and match with any outfit.

These are also much less expensive than most charm bracelet charms. Some of the cheaper bracelets are under $20, but even the most expensive won't set you back more than $50 or so, and you can find many for much less than that. Hanging charms, since they are so detailed on all sides, can be several hundred dollars for gold charms.  Zoppini charms are very popular. The are equal opportunity, so you can tailor the bracelet for anybody.

If you know somebody into horoscopes, zodiac charms  are a perfect addition. Internet geeks might love emoticon charms .They also sell charms with your national flag or favorite sports teams.

Bead Charm Bracelets

Bead charm bracelets  are another great choice. They are versatile in expressing your personality any which way you want: you can have dangly and fun charms to show your bubbly personality traits or try adding charm beads to show your more meditative and calm traits.  These bracelets work with any variety of clothing combinations, however, they're best with casual or comfortable clothes.

The bead varieties for these bracelets are often silver, wood, glass, and gold. You can buy gemstone beads as well to mix and match within the charms. Many beads are sold with religious significance . Others may represent hopes and mantras such as "serenity," "peace," and "luck."

Charm Necklaces

Charm necklaces  are an alternative or wonderful complement to charm bracelets. If worn with the right things they can be just as trendy.  These are a great way to show off charms that are too large for your bracelet, and if you have charms of your children or grandchildren, this way they will always hang close to your heart.  Charm necklaces are popular right now--wear a few of them for a layered look or just one if your style is a little more subdued.

To protect your jewelry, you should always keep delicate items away from unforgiving desktops.
