Carolina Panthers Merchandise

The Carolina Panthers are part of the South Division of the National Football Conference in the NFL and represent both the North and South Carolinas. Having officially emerged into the world of football in 1995, the Panthers are a very young franchise and are still striving to build a national following. They appeared only once in the Super Bowl (in 2004 against the New England Patriots) and have yet to clinch a football championship. In spite of these statistics, the Carolina Panthers remain a respected team and attract a range of fans from the Southern regions of the US. But don't let their sweet, Southern accents fool you--Panther fans are as fiery as they come and support their Carolina cats with vigor. And with all the crazy paraphernalia floating around, who can blame them? From pacifiers  to lace garters they've got it all. And like any other loyal following in the NFL, you'll see Panther fans camping out before a game at their home stadium in Charlotte, NC, doing what football fanatics do best (besides rile up the crowd)--tailgate. Read below to see how you can turn a normal football tailgate into Carolina-awesome as well as obtain some of that clever Panthers merchandise.

A Tailgating Special

Whether you're a first time-tailgater or a seasoned griller, your football barbecue needs to be done right. In order to truly get into your tailgating element, you'll need the right accessories in addition to the food essentials. Set your barbecue experience apart by acquiring these nifty Carolina Panthers items and you'll be the star of the pre-game parking lot show. Ready, set, tailgate!

  • For the grill-master:
    • Start your barbecue off by strapping on your Panthers apron  (and no, it's not emasculating if it has the Panthers logo on it!) and keeping your grilling mits in sight to make sure your favorite game shirt  doesn't get soiled.
    • You'll need your handy-dandy grill set  nearby in order to perfect those burger patties--most people prefer their burgers medium or medium-well, but it would be a good idea to ask beforehand since some guests are squeamish to the pink center.
    • For those toting a larger grill or for the back-yard grilling fiend, complete the meal by caring for your grill. As annoying as it may be, cleaning a grill (usually with a grill brush ) is essential to keeping it at peak usage. It's also a good idea to use a grill cover  to maintain it's pristine condition.
  • For the guests:
    • Firstly, make sure your car visible to all guests (in case they lost playing a rowdy game of touch football) by accessorizing your vehicle with a car flag  or magnet  that will be a salute to your good cooking as well as to your team.
    • Your friends will be plenty thirsty when they arrive, so bring out the cooler and pass around some cups  and bottle koozies  to keep those drinks cool. For the warm weather, remember to stay hydrated so keep plenty of extra bottles of water handy. And if you want to go a step further, buy some portable water-spray fans  to pass around (but keep one for yourself, especially if you're hanging out by the grill).
    • Look into buying a few small folding tables  so that you can spread out your culinary masterpiece for everyone to dive into. (Or you can ask a friend to bring a table since your car might be packed to the brim.) Now that you have a nice spread of potato chips, coleslaw, burgers and hot dogs, show where your true dedication lies by plating things with your special Panthers plates and bowls

Other Tailgating Tips:

  • Weather: Check the weather forecast before you start organizing the tailgate as well as the day before (in case an errant storm comes racing in). At any rate, you should keep a few umbrellas  and ponchos  handy in case foul weather hits you unsuspectingly. If the weatherman forecasts a cold day, bring extra blankets  in case you or your guests feel the chill.
  • Vehicle: Make sure you have enough room in your car for all the goods you'll need to bring for both the game and the barbecue beforehand. If you find you're running out of room, ask your friends to bring a few things such as chairs and utensils. If you have an SUV or truck, you might want to think about using your vehicle as an extra seat or table, especially if the back pulls out.
  • Supplies: Make a checklist of all the supplies you'll need a day before the game. Most likely, you will be coordinating the responsibilities of bringing food, drinks, chairs, etc. with your fellow tailgaters, so make sure you have everything you need. Your friends will be sure to raise hell if you forget the beer cooler!
  • Entertainment: Although your guests will be focused on the delicious meal you cooked, once everyone has had their fill it's a good idea to 'keep the ball rolling' so sleepy time doesn't set in. Bring a football  with you in your car to toss around and get everyone in the mood before the game.
