Here are a few basic tips for enhancing your sound system with a
subwoofer:
* Pay more attention to the advertised RMS power ratings, not peak power ratings. RMS power is a measure of continuous power handling, and a much more accurate measure than inflated peak power ratings.
* A system with a higher sensitivity rating takes less power to produce the same amount of sound as a
sub with lower sensitivity.
* Impedence is rated in ohms and you want it to be lower. This is basically a measure of electrical resistance so a 2ohm subwoofer with the same wattage input.

Quality subwoofers have a firm, rigid basket, which holds all of the speaker's components under the cone.
* The cone should be made of a sturdy plastic that can withstand intense vibration.
* The surround is what holds the cone to the speaker. When the magnet pulls the cone the surround acts like a suspension. So this should be made out of a sturdy foam or rubber. If the cone or surround rips, your
subwoofer is ruined, so inspect these parts before you buy.
