Lens Accessories

Photography is not only a hobby, it's a way of life. You want not only to document what you see but share it and make a statement. Yep, that inner artÍst wants to paint the town bright cinnamon red. However, you can't really achieve that creative goal unless you equip yourself with all your camera accessories. A true photographer wants to experiment with lenses and effects. However, after much use shooting that break-dancing gang in New York or trying to get the next shocking photo of celebrity debauchery on your tour as a paparazzo in LA, these lenses need some protection and care. You want to keep your lenses in tip top shape, after all.

Filters and Mounts

= Lens filters will help with your image clarity. You may decide to go with UV filters to block some of the overwhelming sunlight out. Polarizing lenses will get rid of the glare on water surfaces, metal and other shiny surfaces. To change the tonal quality of the images your camera takes, you can use color filters to change the temperature of your images. There are also neutral density filters that will balance the color and shade of your photo if it's too bright. If you have a new camera and you're not sure that the filters you have will fit, you can look for a lens mount. It should be able to attach the filter you want as long as it's made for the corresponding parts.

Cases, Protection and Cleaner

You want your lenses to stay padded, secured and dust free during travel. You'll want to find a portable and convenient lens case if you plan to do a lot of traveling to photograph. A lot of lens cases are made of nylon. Be sure to get the case that matches the kind of lens you're bringing. Some cases won't be wide or long enough to fit a wide-angle or telephoto lens. Aside from carrying cases, there are your typical plastic lens caps. It's smart to keep these with you in case you drop your lenses, but they're not your only option. Lens hoods are great for protecting your lenses from impact while also reducing lens flare when photographing. They're usually made out of some sort of hard rubber. You can use cleaner pens or spray cleaner and towel to get rid of smudges, dust or debris.
