Camera Batteries

All cameras  use batteries in order to operate--everyone knows that much. But what type of batteries  to buy and where is a whole different story. Let's take a look at what all of your options are.

Film Cameras

Film cameras almost always take AA  or AAA  batteries. Because cameras can use a lot of battery power, try long lasting Panasonic Evolta  batteries or rechargeable Pure Energy Batteries  You can find some more information on our Eco-Friendly Battery Guide.

Digital Cameras

Almost all digital cameras come with a rechargeable battery. A few still use AA or AAA batteries and for these, you can try rechargeable alkaline batteries  or your standard drug store brand. Most brands of camera will have a specific battery made by the same manufacturer. This is true for Nikons Canons  and Sonys If buying a replacement battery you may want to compare specs from your old brand to the new one. Usually you'll be looking at nickel metal hydride batteries  (NiMH) but sometimes a camera will use different types like alkaline  or lithium ion batteries.
