Boat Engine Parts
You've just won the lottery and are going to buy yourself a
engine and the parts it uses. If something should go wrong, you don't want to be stranded on an island with a smoke monster and some weird blond guy living under a statue that keeps talking to you about "fate".
How Boat Engines Work
The first thing to recognize as far as boat engines go is that there are two kinds,
outboard engines.

propeller, so movement of the motor can in turn move the boat in the direction you need it to go.
Basic Parts
Boat engines are comprised of a few essential parts, many which are
rust resistant because of their constant exposure to the water. These are some of the basics.
* Drive shaft: the drive shaft is what transmits torque (the force of energy needed to rotate or move an object) and rotation and supplies power to the rest of the engine.
* Camshaft: a
camshaft maximizes torque even when the boat is running at relatively low speeds.

*
Freeze plug: A plug placed in the side of an engine block to prevent freezing in cold temperatures.
* Fuel Filters and Tanks:
Filters keep unwanted contaminants out.
* Propellers: Propellers are needed for boats with inbound engines to
push the water and move the boat.
* Gaskets: Special
keep water from getting in the engine and fuel entering the water.
