Bluetooth Headsets

If you are on the road often a cell phone headset  makes life easier, especially if you live in a state that bans handheld cellphone use while driving. The Bluetooth headset  takes that convenience one step further to make your communication truly wireless. Check that your cell phone is Bluetooth compatible before attempting to buy this wireless headset.

What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is essentially a wireless way of connecting electronic devices within a local network. From your computer, to your printer or mouse or keyboard or PDA or cellphone. You name it, Bluetooth technology has simplified the way we link up our products  by using a standard (agreed upon) international radio frequency of 2.45 Gigahertz (GHz).

If you would you like to know more about how it works and even where the term "Bluetooth" comes from, check out the article at HowStuffWorks.com.

Why Go Bluetooth?

There are several reasons why Bluetooth headsets are a good investment. New cellphone laws in most states require drivers use hands-free headsets when driving. Even if you don't drive often, Bluetooth is good to use in the house, office or on the street. It lets you move freely without being tangled in cords and gives your hands utmost mobility to do other things. It also allows you the same privacy of talking on a phone, instead of a speakerphone device.

Choosing a Headset

Buying a headset is like buying a set of headphones. The first thing you want to consider is comfort and sound quality. Most sets today come as one single piece that attaches directly to the ear and features a boom-style microphone. Test how this feels on your ear before pick a model. Remember the challenge the manufacturers face is trying to create something small and lightweight that functions well. Since these sets have to include a battery, the weight can only be so low. After you've found something that fits well, check out how it works. Make sure the set is easy to use with your phone and that it fits within your price range.
