Basic Billiard Balls
Your basic billiard balls are the solids and stripes ranging from number one to fifteen and vary in colors. According to WPA/BCA equipment specifications, the weight may be from 5.5 to 6 oz. with a diameter of 2.25 in., plus or minus 0.005 inches. Balls 1–7 are often referred to as solids and 9–15 as stripes. Billiard balls began being made out of ivory, and sometimes they still are, but more commonly billiard balls are made out of a cast from plastic materials that are strongly resistant to cracking and chipping, such as acrylic.
