Just about every diehard indie music fan has heard of Belle ét Sebastien.
Band Dynamics
Stuart Murdoch and Stevie Jackson are the two lead singers and founders of the group, however more members have joined as the years progressed. It took some time for the band to gain the success they have in the indie world today since the Britpop charts during the time of the band’s formation, around 1996, played the likes of the superHymns'>The Verve. Consequently, Belle & Sebastian's talents were drowned out.
In 1998, Belle & Sebastian released their 3rd album, ''The Boy With the Arab Strap'', which became the turning point for the band; it was the first album to reach the top 20 on the UK music charts. Since then, the band has enjoyed international success in the indie music world. While their records sell more in the UK, Belle & Sebastian's music has been featured on a number of American film soundtracks, including Definitely, Maybe.
