Bathroom Organization and Storage Buying Guide

Except for that occasional soak in the tub, chances are you aren't spending much time in the bathroom.  However, that's no reason to let disorder reign. Still storing your clean folded towels on the toilet tank, with those spare rolls of toilet paper  on the floor, and that extra tube of toothpaste. ..wait, where is that again? Get a grip on your bathroom with these simple storage and organization products that will help make this space a little less chaotic and a little more tranquil. Now, how about another soak in that tub?  Enjoy.

Bathroom Shelving and Storage

Keep items you use on a daily basis in an accessible spot. Remember: accessible does not have to mean messy. Try these organization pieces  here.

Bins  are great for stocking loose toilet paper rolls,  tubes of toothpaste,  bottles of mouthwash  and more.

Hooks  or towel bars  can be attached to the back of the bathroom door to hang up clean clothes and linens.

Shelves  can either be hung up on hooks or built into the wall for the utmost in storage. Consider building closets  into the bathroom as well.

A simple store-all caddy  is good for storing cotton balls, Q-tips, body lotion, nail polish  and whatever else your beauty routine demands.

A toilet paper holder  can hold multiple rolls at a time. These are especially good for company when one roll runs out and needs to be replaced.

Accessories

No one said bathroom accessories  had to be boring. Brighten up your morning routine!

A fun, patterned toothbrush holder  and soap dispenser  can be functional and add some life to your space.

A bold shower curtain  and fun curtain hooks  are all you need to wake up in the morning. 

Shower caddies  are convenient since they are large enough to hold all of your items and can be hung up in the shower.

For bathtime, consider a tub shelf  and body pouf  to allow for the most luxurious pampering.

There are lots of little odds and ends you can use to decorate your bathroom, such as a toilet seat cover  or some candles. 

Linens

When you get out of the shower (especially in the dead of winter), you want to make sure you have a clean, warm towel to dry yourself off. You also want to have enough on hand so you don't run out when you least expect it. Don't forget these few tips for buying your bathroom linens.

  • Towels : Make sure they are long enough - the worst thing when you are cold and sopping wet is to have a towel that's too short.
  • Fabrics: Also keep in mind that cotton is typically going to be your top choice for a towel as it is more absorbent- Egyptian cotton  is the priciest of fabrics but American prima cotton  is much more affordable. Other alternatives include organic cotton, Modal  and microfiber towels. 
  • Hand Towels : The most important thing with these linens is matching your decor. Do you want to have guest towels that you only bring out for company, or do you want to use the same towels all the time?
  • Washcloths : In this case, you don't need fabrics to be absorbent so much as gentle on your skin. Make sure you are picking out a fabric that feels right for you, and that you stock up-especially if you use these every day.
  • Floor Rug : Okay, so it's not technically a linen, but you will be stepping on it when you get out of the shower, so you want absorbent fabric. Be careful of the color as an all-white mat can tend to get dirty quickly. Also, look out for grips on the bottom of the rug so it doesn't slide all over the bathroom floor and take you with it.

Cleaning Supplies

Now that your bathroom has been designed to perfection, you want to keep it looking clean. Make sure to always have cleaning supplies on hand and that you have enough shelving to store them accordingly, and don't forget a wastebasket  for the bathroom- it will make clean-up easier.
