Baby Products Diapering

Diapers, oh diapers. You're little one isn't pottybags'>diaper bag? What's more, how do you make sure your baby won't get a bad rash from his diaper, or feel compelled to rip it off whenever you turn your back? Let us make your life a little easier.

The Diaper Debate

The grand debate in baby world is the diaper one. Along with your baby's skin health and your budget, you might be concerned about how used diapers will affect the environment or which diapers will be easiest to change. Of course, in the end, whether you're going to choose cloth or disposable diapers will be your own personal choice for your baby. But if you're still not sure which you'd prefer, here are thorough descriptions of both, their pros and their cons.

Cloth

If you're the traditional type, then you're better off going for reusable cloth diapers. And if you're concerned that disposable diapers could be detrimental to your baby's skin, then cloth diapers are also your best choice. Today, cloth diapers don't have much glamor and can be overwhelming to use. First off, cloth diapers come in many different forms (covers or inserts), must be laundered by different kinds of detergents, and  attached in different ways (Velcro or pins). It gets complicated, so we've broken it down for you. * '''Pros''': ** ''Cheaper''. Initially it might be expensive to get yourself setrun and compared to disposables, cloth diapers will save you money. ** ''Safer''. It's true that you can be more confident knowing that your baby will probably not develop a rash from a cloth diaper. ** ''Reusable from on change to the other, but also from one baby to your next. ** ''Environment friendly.'' Cloth diapers require less energy and chemicals to produce and since they are re-usable they pollute less than disposable ones would. ** ''Earlier potty-training. ''Babies who wear cloth diapers are said to learn to use the toilet more quickly because they are conscious of the discomfort of being wet or dirty in a cloth diaper ** ''Cute''. As you'll see later on, the different kinds of diapers allow you to choose which color and style you want your baby to be fashioned in.  * '''Cons''': ** ''Messy.'' If you're not too comfortable being that close to your baby's droppings, cloth diapers might not be for you. ** ''Leaky''. If not changed often, cloth diapers do...leak. ** ''Travel inconvenience.'' When traveling, it might be better to use disposable diapers as you won't have much room to store all the dirty cloth diapers on a plane, train, or bus. ** ''Extra laundry.'' Having to do extra laundry loads could compromise the expenses of buying disposable diapers or the environment pro, and they are also time-consuming. ** ''Daycare centers. ''Some day care centers won't accept your baby in cloth diapers because it's more complicated to change your baby's diaper.

Disposable

Disposable diapers are the most commonly used out of the two choices. First introduced in 1949 by Johnson & Johnson, disposable diapers are a relatively new alternative to the old-timer cloth diapers. Parents appreciate disposable diapers for their efficiency and practicality. ** '''Pros''': *** ''Easy.'' Disposable diapers appear the easier choice. *** ''Throw-away factor.'' You can trash used disposable diapers rather than having to wash them. *** ''Leak-less''. Disposable diapers have been made so sturdy that you are almost 100% sure that you can avoid a leak. *** ''Travel efficient.'' Most definitely the winner when it comes to traveling, disposable diapers will prevent you from having to frequently change your baby or make a mess changing him/her. ** '''Cons''': *** ''More expensive.'' Having to continuously buy diapers will take a toll if you are running on a tight budget. *** ''Health hazard.'' Disposable diapers use specific chemicals (Sodium polyacrylate) that can give your baby a rash, and babies who wear disposables are more likely to get a diaper rash. *** ''Hurtful to the environment.'' The re-usable advantage of a disposable diaper is compensated because the continuous discharge of diapers is heavy on the environment.  *** ''Harder to potty-train.'' Babies in disposable diapers are comfortable, especially with all the improvements made on the disposable diaper to prevent leaks and other diaper accidents. It can be much harder to get your little on to let go of his diaper for the toilet.
