What Can a Tachometer Measure?
* Most commonly, auto tachometers are used to measure the RPMs of the car's engine, or the revolutions per minute. This lets you know how fast the car engine is running.

* If the car's engine is running too fast or hard, the chrome tachometer will indicate this by showing an orange or red color to indicate danger.
* Since universal tachometers give an indication of how fast the engine is moving, you can get an idea of the temperature of the engine and if its headed for overheating.
