It didn't surprise me to learn that one of my favorite bands is the best selling American rock band of all time. Steven Tyler has been prancing around stage with his infamous scarf mic stand (and lips that make Mick Jagger jealous) since the 1970s, and despite injuries from rocking out too hard, he and the band are still making music and touring. The band quickly garnered success with their debut album and it's been nothing but platinum albums since then. This is one train that will keep on rollin'.
Just Push Play
Make sure you push play on some of these top albums:
* '''Aerosmith''' - Their debut album was heavily influenced by the blues and even covered the song "Walkin' the Dog" by Rufus Thomas. The main reason you can't skip this album though, is because of "Dream On." It's also when Steven Tyler could hit notes higher than a school girl. Eminem's "Sing For the Moment" featured a sample of this song.
* '''Toys in the Attic''' - You can hear the original version of "Walk This Way" (Sorry Run D.M.C) and let your sweet emotions flow. Many consider it to be their best album and I will have to concur with them!
* '''Pump''' - After a rough patch in the '80s, Aerosmith returned to the top of awesomeness with "Janie's Got a Gun," "Love In an Elevator," and the ballad "What It Takes." It's right on par with ''Toys in the Attic''.
* '''Get a Grip''' "Cryin'," "Amazing," and " Crazy." Although the video for "Livin' on the Edge" didn't have Silverstone, you can enjoy a nude Steven Tyler, Joe Perry's face melting guitar solo, and that kid from ''Terminator 2''.
* '''Just Push Play''' - It's difficult to resist the hook of "Jaded" and I can't ''not'' dance around like a fool to the title track. Aerosmith takes on a fresh sound while still holding on firmly to their rock roots.
Get a Grip On Merch
All the hardcore fans with an Aerosmith wings tattoo will have plenty of merchandise to stockpile in their shrine to these hard rock gods. Naturally there is a plethora of tpads. Don't forget to pick up a copy of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith so you can jam along.
