Abrasive Discs Quick Change Discs
Abrasive discs and grinding wheels are an important tool used in industrial jobs. Grinding wheels are used to smooth out or cut metal. Depending on the material you are working with, there are different grinders and different discs that need to be used.
abrasive wheels and as these wheels spin, the disc rotates on its center axis causing an abrasive action on the steel component that is being processed. There are a few types of discs, each different in the purpose to which it is suitable for.
* Common abrasive discs are those for
finishing. These usually have finer particles that are less harsh in order to remove surface scratches to achieve a distinct mirror finish.
* There are basically a few types of abrasives that are used on these discs, and examples are
aluminum oxide.
* Grit sizes differ, and there are grit sizes of
80 to choose from. Basically the larger the grit size, the finer the abrasives.
* The size of the discs are pretty standard, ranging from about
8 inches in diameter although custom sizes are available upon personal orders.
* Most of these discs come with
cloth backs for long lasting durability.
Supplementary Equipment
A few other accessories are required in order to achieve excellent quality products. These will ensure that the abrasion occurs in the manner that it is supposed to and that a highly polished or a cut of close dimensional tolerances is achieved.
*
Diamond polisher is a polisher that has fine particles of diamond dust in it to achieve a fine polish of metal cross sections.
* A cheaper polish is the
aluminum oxide polish which utilizes fine aluminum oxide particles to achieve a smooth polish.
* At times,
sandpaper is required for finishing details or to grind parts of a component that is not accessible by the disc.
