Much like, white tea leaves are picked when they are still young buds with fine white hair covering them (hence, the name white tea). While most green teas have a grassy taste to them, white tea is very mild and sweet. Since white tea is scarce, expect to pay a premium to enjoy a quality cup of tea.

Many Chinese white teas have poetic names to describe their characteristic shape or flavor. The English translation is in parenthesis. In addition to these types, white tea can be infused with the flavors of fruit and spice.
