Welcome Mats

By User:kennedye @timeAndDate(1265672128) Welcome mats can serve a variety of purposes. Usually found at the entrance to a home, a home improvement.

Functional

If you have kids or if you live in a wet area (lots of rain, snow, or mud) you're probably looking for a functional doormat. This is a great way to keep from tracking mud and moisture through your home, which will make your living space look and feel cleaner with less coir, which are made from the fibers of coconuts. You'll recognize the brown, rough material as the same you've seen practically everywhere. The best part? These don't only reduce the need to clean the rest of your home, but the mats themselves require little to no cleaning!

Decorative

Decorative welcome mats can be placed inside or outside of the house. Because their primary function isn't to absorb dirt and moisture, decorative doormats are often rubber bottom. If you want your foyer to look more put together, stylish, or welcoming, then you're looking for an indoor mat. There aren't any hard and fast rules about indoor mats; because these don't experience the wear and tear that outdoor mats do, there is a lot more flexibility. You can choose a mat to match the rest of the room by matching it to your drapes. Another option is using the mat to accent the room, in which case it shouldn't match the color or pattern of the room's decor, but should compliment it. For example, if the room has light blue wallpaper you want a mat that coordinates with light blue but is not light blue itself. Instead, think about navy blue or yellow. If your new mat is ''purely'' decorative, try looking at area rugs! These come in a much wider variety of patterns, styles, colors, and sizes, so they may better suit your preferences and style. However, be aware that an area rug is not a mat. Unlike mats, they do not withstand the elements very well, they are often not washable, and they are considerably more expensive. Consider getting a simple muted pattern to mask any dirt or water damage that may occur.

Novelty

Novelty mats can be virtually anything, but the vast majority are first apartments) or families with children, because they give the space a lighthearted, casual feel. If you want a funny mat, try to find one that speaks to your personality. Because it's the first thing people will see as they enter your home, it's somewhat of a first impression. Do you want to be associated with the humor on your doormat? If the joke is raunchier or more biting than you would normally make, it's probably not the right one. If the joke makes you smile every time you see it, it's probably a good reflection of the type of person you are. Just be sure to choose a mat that's appropriate for whoever may see it! If you want a unique doormat that isn't about humor, think about getting a special made welcome mat. Some examples would be a welcome mat with an image of your family or pet, or a line of poetry (or prose) that has special meaning to you. If you need a welcome mat at your workplace, consider having it printed with the company's contact information, logo, and tagline.
