Radio Control Airplanes
You've seen those cheesy 1990s commercials boasting that their
model trains, however, you'll want to look into this a little bit more before you run out and buy those. Some are a whopping $200+.
Hobby Vs. Toy
Hobby
* These are not a good idea for Jr. The model quality radio airplanes are normally $100 minimum.
* These hobby flyers are worth the money if you're really into aircraft structure and history.
* They offer military replicas,
sailboats.
* On top of needing the controller you will need to buy a
servo to send signals to the rudders and propellers. These are considerably cheaper (phew).
* The last thing you'll need are
receiver crystals.
* Enjoy. You can do this for hours. Learn new things, upgrade your models, and show off your mad flying skills to people in the park.
Toys
* These are more practical as toys for kids. They can cost approximately between $15-$70.
* They offer just as much variety but on a different grade scale.
* These flyers come with their designated remote.
* They are great for teaching aerodynamics and aviation to children and students.
* They run on normal batteries, like
C batteries.
Types of Flyers
Gliders
* These are the non-propeller planes. They're still controlled via remote but they're aerodynamics are slightly different.
Airplanes
* The classic choice. You can't go wrong with any type of airplane. Try a plane that's
colorful for younger kids.
Blimps
* Helicopters offer hours of fun if your kid has those army men
action figures.
* Some blimp toys can be written on with
personalized messages.
UFOs and Spaceships
* Do you have a little space cadet at home? If your child dreams of being an astronaut, along with buying him a
NASA helmet try buying him a UFO to fight against!
