Do your little ones have the rainy day blues? Give them the gift of creative play with dress up costumes and accessories. From a few feather boas and a pair of funny glasses to full on costumes, there are plenty of options that will give your child hours of imaginative play... and keep them out of your hair.
Costumes
There are an endless number of dressup costumes fashioned after favorite cartoons and characters like Harry Potter, Disney Princesses and superheroes like Spiderman and Batman. Vintage dresses and suits can also make great dress up items. Or you can purchase dress up kits that come with several costumes and accessories for both boys and girls.
Accessories
Accessories can be a great way to start kids with role play and dress up, especially if you are on a tight budget. Let kids play with your old scarves, feather boas, hats, belts and purses. There are also costume specific accessories you can purchase like fairy wings, police and fire hats, crowns and tiaras. Give kids old costume jewelry to play with or purchase a child friendly set of dress up jewels. Some jewels are even Disney Princess, Barbie or Dora themed. Wigs can also be a great dress up option as well as animal ears and noses. Look for kiddie versions of stethoscopes and thermometers, police badges, handcuffs or walkie talkies. Don't forget to purchase a chest or box to keep all of your costumes organized.
