Kids want to feel like grown ups more than you know. Sometimes when they try, they find themselves squirming and fumbling because they are too small for certain things... such as furniture. Give your kid an armchair of his/her own. It's perfectly sized for their tush and they can watch TV or read in it. The portability factor also lets you bring it to the living room and back to their room. They will feel comfortable in a chair that has been shrunken down just for them! A great benefit to kids furniture is that you'll be able to choose from bright colors and cute designs. That means no child is left unhappy with boring adult furniture!
Comfort First!
Buying kids furniture is a pretty important shopping task. Just because you're buying an armchair that is miniature sized and something that your child will eventually grow out of, you should still keep their interests in mind.
Comfort comes before looks. Why? Because if it's not comfortable, your kid will sit on it a few times and then won't return to it ever again. For a soft cushion, look for high density foam. It will be sturdy and comfy, but won't go flat. The arms can be dramatic or they can be simple. Rolled arms give it a vintage look and can be awfully cute in a miniature sized chair. Simple, straight arms are always a classic look. There are also bean bag arm chairs that are not as sturdy as a framed chair would be. But if you've ever sat in a bean chair, you know they are oh so fun.
For the ultimate comfort, some kiddie armchairs come with a matching ottoman. This isn't a necessary thing, but it will let your child feel like an adult with his/her matching furniture set.
Design
The next thing you want to look out for is appearance. Getting a chair in your child's favorite color will score you some bonus points. This is the most simple approach and also the easiest, as they won't get tired of it that easily. Keep in mind, if you choose a character or themed chair, make sure that it really is your kid's favorite before throwing down money on it.
The types of fabrics to choose from varies. If your kid is rather mature, then by all means go for a leather armchair! If they like the feel of softness like their favorite stuffed animal, velor is always a wise choice.
