TI began rapping at the age of seven, and started dealing drugs not long after that. He was once known as Rubberband Man, the title of one of hit singles, because he would wrap all his rolls of drug money in those infamous stretchy bands. He actually got a record deal through his paternal grandfather, a record executive, but his first album ''I'm Serious'' was a dud, and he was subsequently dropped. He then started his own label, Grand Hustle, and he has been creating hits ever since. What TI lacked in initial talent, he made up for with confidence, drive, and swagger.
