Tungsten is considered the best quality because it is the strongest of these metals, so the darts can be made thinner. The metal is thought to give players more control and create higher scores.
Parts of a Dart
Before you throw money down on an expensive dart you prefer, and how you like to grip the barrel.
* The tip of the dart is the front part that enters into the dart board. It's straightness is important to proper flight.
* The barrel is thicker than the tip and where the player puts his/her fingers. If you use more fingers, you should have a longer barrel, less fingers means you need a short barrel. There are many different grip patterns to choose from.
* Shafts extend behind the barrel. They can be made of nylon, titanium.
* Flights are the wings on the back end of your darts. These four wings need to be spread at exactly 90 degree angles. Otherwise, they are "flat", and this will adversely affect the flight of your darts.
