Rutger Hauer

After the years in space, after watching my fellow replicants fall away, one by one like tears in the rain, I returned home to my dirty, neon-lit world. I begged my father for more life, but he turned his back to me. I was hounded and hunted by vicious men, who were set upon me because I committed the crime of breaking my bondage. The most determined of my hunters had set out to be my murderer, but he became my confessor. My time ran out on a cold rooftop and the most human parts of my soul are now kept in the memory of my killer. I have fallen. I will rise. I have a voice that is soft and weak and speaks terrible truths. I order the murder of innocent women and bring down terrible vengeance upon my head. I am unclean. I am madness. I've Seen Things You People Wouldn't Believe

Rutger Hauer is a Dutch actor best known for his role as the doomed replicant Roy Batty from Blade Runner. He's been in numerous genre pictures over the years, including The Hitcher, Batman Begins, Sin City, Ladyhawke, Flesh and Blood, and Blind Fury. He has a deep, commanding presence and is most commonly used in playing the role of the movie's "heavy," but he brings a a surprising depth and pathos to his roles. He's been involved in many of the movies of fellow Dutchman Paul Verhoeven and was once considered to play the role of Robocop. He's still active today, making appearances in both large Hollywood productions and smaller directDVD features.
