Punk Clothing
When
influenced by designers Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, whose clothing often bore offensive symbols. Punk fashion was never socially accepted, which made wearing it all the more taboo. Since its emergence in the late 70s, punk clothing has become mainstream commodity, and is very much an "in" look.
Several Stages of Punk Fashion
Much like the animal kingdom, the punk world is divided into numerous subsections. Within each, punks listen to variations of the genre's music, adhere to the lifestyle and sport different clothing. Check out how a few of these punks dress.
Everyday Punks
These punks have a style that closely resembles punks of the past. Although the standard punk is all about doJeans'>tight or skinny jeans, bondage pants and vests.
Pop Punks
Pop punk fashion hit it big in the early 2000s when musicians such as
Dickies pants, skinny jeans and fitted hoodies.
Hardcore Punks
This subsection of punks do not wear the typical punk clothing. That's right, no plaid tight pants, no studs, and definitely nothing with bondage straps. Hardcore punks often wear working class clothes, which includes
Puma, and sportswear. Why don't they wear any of the traditional punk clothing? It's too constricting when it's time to mosh!
