Power Transmission

Although many people think musical instruments, power transmission plays a huge role in our daily lives. After all, how else would we have electricity?

Electrical Power

Electrical power transmission is essentially the transfer of energy from generating power plants to smaller stations near populated areas. Now, we're sure you've heard of the term power grid before – it's a group of wires that join forces to create a high voltage transmission network. It's similar to the Justice League but without the cool cars and spandex. In the United States, there are three power grids: Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the Western Interconnect, and the Eastern Interconnect. * '''Overhead Transmission:''' used as the conductor is usually aluminum because it is lightweight and doesn't cost a lot to produce.  * '''Underground Transmission:''' Sometimes transmitting energy through a populated area, over water or any rough terrain can be difficult. That's where underground transmission comes in handy. These cables are installed underground and tend to have the upper hand on overhead transmissions. Underground cables are protected from the weather, reduce electromagnetic field emissions, and are no longer a threat for planes and animals.

Mechanical Power

Since the 1500s, Transmission gears can adjust the force of mechanical power, while driveshafts transmit the power. * '''pressurized air in the pipes to produce sound.
