Power Steering Damper and Steering Stabilizers

Automobiles are complicated machines.  The suspension, for example, requires a lot of working parts to function. This system in your car prevents you and the vehicle from veering off the road when you need to make sharp turns or drive on bumpy pavement, so if it's not working you might want to replace them.  After all, the stabilizers are the basic spine of the system, so when Godzilla attacks and you need to make that panicked U-turn, you know your car will be functioning properly. Other important parts include: * '''Steering Dampers''': These dissipate energy when the vehicle makes sharp turns and jolts.  * '''Shock Absorbers''': Oil-filled tubes that slow down the springs when you encounter a bump in the road. * '''Struts and Antiall, they're really just to prevent your vehicle from wobbling and swerving during turns.

How Do They Work?

Gas spring steering stabilizers exert pressure into a cylinder, inside of which is a piston. When the air pressure increases or decreases, the piston forces the stabilizer to condense or expand. The oil in the cylinder allows for smoother movement, and keeps the wheels inhydraulic and hydraulic stabilizers are more common in big trucks and tow vehicles. They use a hydraulic piston that prevents the coil or shock absorber from returning to its neutral position too fast.

Motorcycle Dampers and Steering Stabilizers

These are similar to car and truck stabilizers but are connected slightly differently to the wheels. Linear dampers are one of the main types: they are made up of a long cylinder that connects to a hydraulic clamp. The stabilizer rests between the handlebars and the gears leading to the wheels, right in front of the dash. In the body of the stabilizer is a shaft that connects to the solenoid. This solenoid powers the device because it transfers the electric currents.

Installing Steering Dampers/Stabilizers

* Before you start make sure you have the new damper/stabilizer, a jack of some sort for lifting the car, and a wrench and socket set. Keep a towel and a pair of pliers handy in case you need them. * Because the dampers are located underneath the car, you'll need to use a jack or support to lift it. Before you go diving under to fix it, please make sure that your automobile is stable; otherwise, your car will still have a bad damper and you'll be a pancake. * The damper should be located under the passenger side. Unscrew the bolts that hold it in place and carefully take it off. If it's all messy (with in oil, dirt, or rust), then wipe it off with the towel and a cleaner. * Get the new damper (and kit if you bought it) and hold it in the same place you found the other one. It should connected to both ends using bolts, with the one side connecting properly to the coil so it can function. Use your tools and wrench to tighten it effectively. * The last part is the cotter pin (also known as a split pin). This little piece pinches in its holder so it keeps the tension at appropriate levels. Make sure that the bolt connecting the damper and the nut adjacent to it are lined up. Place the pin inside and wrap it around. If you can't get it to bend, use the pliers.
