Blowers
A
supercharger or
twin screw supercharger. Both of these provide major performance increases to an engine, they just do it in different ways.
Twin screw superchargers
Unlike most
superchargers are very expensive to buy because of all the parts that are used in one. But, if you are willing to spend the money, twin screw superchargers are a great way to add on a lot of power very quickly.
* Most
twin screw superchargers will set you back a lot, but the power that you will get from one will make the investment worth it.
* Most superchargers have
power upgrades into the 100 horsepower range, but end at the 300 horsepower range.
* When you are buying a
supercharger, make sure you have enough room under the hood to fit one. You don't want to go buy one if it won't fit into your car.
* Make sure you also buy extra
supercharger. It's going to get very hot under the hood of that car and you want to make sure your car can handle it.
* Also be sure that the
supercharger you are buying is compatible with the car you are trying to modify.
Centrifugal superchargers
In short, a
centrifugal supercharger's belt is attached to a turbine in the supercharger. This type of supercharger is much cheaper than the others you can buy, but it does not provide the type of performance a normal supercharger would give you. But if are only looking for a couple extra horsepower to have at your dispose, this is a worthy investment.
*
Centrifugal superchargers are much cheaper than the expensive twin screw superchargers you can buy.
* Unlike
Centrifugal superchargers are driven by a crank that provides power to the supercharger.
* Make sure that you buy extra cooling such as
intercooling and other upgrades to control heat.
*
Centrifugal superchargers are much more universal and work on a wide range of cars and trucks.
