Marking Tool Styles

* Pin style marking gauges: They are suitable for working along the grain. Pin style marking gauges are used for creating a parallel line to the board’s face. * Knife style gauges: They consist of small size blades instead of having pins. Very apt for scribing lines along cross grains as they do not tear the wood fibers. But care should be taken to keep the blades very sharp. * Wheel style gauges: They consist of small size cutting discs that are directly screwed to the beam’s end. Certain models even enable the wheels to get retracted into the fence when not in use.
