The living room is basically the focal point of the whole house. It is the first thing people usually see when they come in your home, and it's usually where they hang out during their visit. This is why it is important to a lot of people that their living room furniture is modern and stylish.

Seating *Sofa: Having guests over for your weekly Glee party? Make sure you get a sizable sofa that's soft and comfy so you can dance and sing along in comfort. *Love Seat: Usually smaller than a couch, these are nice for a cozy movie night for two. Just don't drop the buttered popcorn on the fabric or there will be hell to pay. *Futons: If you intend to have guests overnight, especially when you host your family reunion, a futon will end up being your best friend. It folds out into a small bed. * A few extra chairs are good to keep in your living room. After all, you can never have enough seating space. *Bean bags are fun and extremely comfortable. Although they are novelty chairs, some are made of a very high quality fabric.  Storage/Organization * An DVD player or Blu Ray player, stereo and any other piece of entertaining electronics.  * Shelves:  Bookshelves and media storage shelves are great for storing all your favorites so you have easy access to them. They take up little room and just look nice in general as an accessory. *Coffee Tables: Usually placed in front of the couch, a coffee table is very functional for a busy living room. Just remember to use coasters. *Sofa tables are usually overlooked at the furniture store but are actually wonderful. These are smaller than an entertainment center but usually used for holding things such as a TV or DVD player. *Accent tables are good for small spaces. These are also referred to as side tables or console tables. Additional Items  *Benches are great for seating extra people that will not fit on the couch or sofa. A lot of times people place benches in the window area for extra style.  *Ottomans usually feature a lift top so that you can easily store blankets, books, or magazines. They are also a good place to rest your feet when you are sitting on a chair or sofa. *Coat Racks: If you don't have room in the closet but you don't want to waste much space, a coat rack is an easy solution. *Blanket Racks: A nice place to drape your blankets or throws over when they aren't in use.
