Lodging Guide

Booking your perfect getaway can become stressful, and though we don't sell accommodations, we are here to help you figure it all out.  If it's a long weekend in a top resort, know what to look for before you book a room.

The Rating System

You can often trust large names like Marriott and Hilton to provide excellent service, but what about all of the other hotel options?  Sometimes smaller large chains cannot.  For this reason, a rating system of stars is applied to the review of the hotel.  This rating system is recognised internationally, and gives guests an idea of what to expect no matter where their travels take them.

 Ideas About Pricing and Reservations

* '''The Rate: '''Keep in mind that when booking, the rate is (unless otherwise noted) per room, not per person.  * '''Currency: '''Be aware of the currency being used.  The conversion rate in many countries will vary, so be sure you know what it's going to cost you.  * '''Surcharges: '''Know that sometimes taxes, gratuities, and booking fees are not included in the listed price and can add a few pounds onto your total.  * '''Meals: '''Meals are only included in the price if the booking agent indicates that this is so. ** ''Half-board'' indicates that breakfast and dinner are included in the price of your room. ** ''Full for the duration of your holiday stay. ** ''Allinclusive plans vary by hotel, so be sure to get the details!  * '''Children: '''Many hotels will offer a special rate for guests travelling with children.  Check with the hotel directly to find out more information. * '''Transfers: '''A transfer from an airport to a hotel is only included in the rate if it says so.  Don't anticipate this unless you see it in writing. * '''Location: '''Is the hotel close to public transportation?  Will the hotel offer a shuttle or taxi service to your areas of interest and will this be included in the price?  This detail can alter where you might choose to stay.   * '''Snacks''':  Some hotels may charge you for the use of coffee or the liquor in the minifoods'>snacks to avoid paying these extra charges. * '''Reservations:  '''Before booking, take note of all of the fine print.  Once you are aware of what you are paying for, then be sure to print out all of your paperwork and carry it with you to verify your accommodations.
