First Aid First Aid Kits

first aid supplies on hand is to purchase a first aid kit, preferably from the American Red Cross.  Don't think that you need to buy a first aid kit however, just to have one on hand.  You can also build your first aid kit from scratch, adding in the necessary supplies to handle a number of minor injuries and emergencies.

What to Include in a First Aid KitT

The choice is yours, but make sure you have the following supplies in your kit.  These recommendations are based off the Red Cross: * Adhesive bandages in assorted sizes * Triangular bandages * Cloth tape * Absorbent compress dressings * Antiseptic wipes * Antibiotic ointement packets * Hydrocortisone ointment packets * Cold compress * Gloves (nonlatex for those with allergies) * Scissors * 3" roller bandage and 4" roller bandage * Sterile gauze pads in 3X3 and 4X4 sizes * Oral thermometer * Tweezers * Breathing barrier * Blanket * Pain reliever, such as aspirin or Tylenol

Where to Have First Aid Kits

You should have a first aid kit in your pets, having the right types and sizes of supplies.  If you are a parent, opt to keep a basic first aid kit stored in your purse or diaper bag so that you have the right supplies to treat slips and falls when at the park or museum.
