Eddie Murphy

By User:AllieCashel @timeAndDate(1278603514) Eddie Murphy is the second highest grossing actor in motion picture history, a difficult title to reach, but a title that makes perfect sense as soon as you see any of his famous movies. Murphy started his career as a stand up comedian, performing on SNL as one of their most popular performers. When he broke into the feature film industry, he was immediately famous: his pictures did incredibly well at the box office and his audiences fell in love with him and his family friendly comedies that appealed to all audiences. Whether he is singing, acting or doing cartoon voices, his entire body of work continues to make people laugh every day and are vital components of every family DVD collection.

Popular Murphy Films

'''''The Nutty Professor''''' DVD'>Nutty Professor II: The Klumps''. '''''Mulan''''' - Murphy broke into his prosperous voice acting career in this Disney animated film, where he did the voice over for the hysterical (and at moments pathetic) dragon character of Mushu. ''Mulan'' most likely would have been an incredible success (as most Disney pictures are) without Murphy's performance but for many audiences, especially the older audiences, Murphy's character made the movie. This performance was one of the first examples of Murphy's impressive ability to make a child's movie incredibly entertaining for both the child and their parents. '''''Dr. Dolitte''''' Murphy'>Dr. Dolittle II.  '''''Shrek''''' After'>Shrek Forever After (not yet released to DVD). All of these movies have developed into fan favorites and Murphy own performance only improved throughout the series. '''''Dreamgirls''''' friendly balladeer. Having none of it, his fame tragically falls as he turns to drugs and an adulterous affair with one of the Dreams' (the band which the movie primarily follows) members. He gives a touching performance that proved his prowess as a serious actor with more than just a talent for making people laugh. Some other popular Murphy films include Coming to America.
