Drive train or power train is the term which is used to refer to automobile’s components including the drive train clutches and parts.
Different Kinds of Clutches
Various clutches are found in automatic transmission, and they help in engaging and disengaging different Pressurized hydraulic fluid is used for putting the every clutch into motion.
* Electromagnetic clutches are found in cars with air conditioning compressors. These clutches enable the compressors to shut down even when the engine is mobile or running.
* Viscous clutches that are controlled thermostatically are mostly found in cars which have cooling fans that are engine driven. This clutch type is very much like the viscous coupling.
* Centrifugal clutches are found in gas powered weed eaters and chain saws.
*Axial Clutches come in the form of either multi discs or single disc. Fabric linings are normally found on both the sides of the discs for transmitting torque obtained from rotating discs adjacent to it when clamping force is applied.
* Cone clutches have cones (internal and external) in the place of plates. The thermal properties of these clutches are found to be better than the plate clutches.
* Sprag Clutches are made up of steel blocks shaped and positioned to transmit power through a wedging action from one race to another in the direction of driving. Found to be useful for allowing indexing, simple over running, or back stopping.
