Who cares about Halloween? We don't need to use that day as an excuse to dress up in costumes! Just like most outfits, though, many costumes are incomplete without a hat as an accessory, so check out our current list of the most popular costume hats out there.
The Thing About Indy's Hat
So what is it that makes this one of the most popular hats, both in and out of costume?
* The hat wasn't so much about style, rather, it was meant to hide Indy's face so that he could easily be replaced with a stunt double.
* Pains were taken to keep Indy's hat on during filming; if it fell off for any reason, scenes had to be reshot.
* Indy's fedora is kept in the Smithsonian Institute on display, but you could easily buy your own version any time!
Mad as a Hatter for the Mad Hatter's Hat
* Even though there have been numerous adaptations of Alice in Wonderland and interpretations of the Mad Hatter character, the most enduring portrayal is of the Mad Hatter in Disney's animated feature
* You don't have to be mad to wear this hat; even if the Hatter is ca1800's
* The 10/6 card on his hat stands for ten shillings and six pence, the price one paid for such a hat
The Deerstalker for Deer Stalkers
* Before it was stereotyped as the detective's hat, this hat was the deerstalker. Sherlock Holmes just gave it a whole new meaning.
* Surprisingly enough, Holmes was never described as wearing a deerstalker in the books, only when he was depicted in illustrations or other media.
