Camshaft Seals

The camshaft rotates. The camshaft is a long rod that controls the valves in your car.  As it rotates, it makes the valves that intake and exhaust air open and close.  The camshaft has lobes, or cams, along its surface that push the springs that open the valves. When you replace a camshaft or find that oil is leaking out of the Rubber camshaft seals get especially brittle in older vehicles, so definitely take the time to replace that old part to preserve the health of your antique ride.  Generally speaking, accessing and removing the cam seal requires you remove a lot of other parts to get to it, including belts and pulleys.  This is probably better left to the professionals unless you are a seasoned auto mechanic.  But if you do need to replace your seals.
