Automotive Lighting Replacement

By User:AllieCashel @timeAndDate(1276027167) No one likes getting pulled over, especially for something like a broken tail or brake light. If your bulb is out, or if there is a crack on the cover it's best to get those lights replaced quickly and to prevent a ticket or accident. It's true, you could just take your car down to the gas station and have the local mechanic fix it, but replacing these lights on your own will save you the labor cost. Replacement lights are cheap and easy to install, so you can fix your lights before they even become a problem.

Replacing Your Lights

If all you have to do is change the bulb of your head, tail, or brake lights you should be able to buy the bulb alone (unless you have sealed beam headlights, then you'll have to buy a new fixture). Bulb installation is fairly simple, you normally just unscrew a cap under your engine hood or in your trunk, and replace the bulb as you would replace a regular light bulb. Take a look at these common bulb types to find one that will fit your car.  If you need to replace the light casing itself, you'll either need to find one that is made specifically for your brand of car or a generic light replacement that will fit. Once you find your specific light casing, the replacement process is fairly simple; it only requires simple hand tools, takes under an hour and normally enables you to use the original wiring holes in your car. Normally, all you need to do is unscrew the cover and lens with a small screw driver and replace the appropriate parts. If you have sealed beam headlights however, you may have to deal with re-wiring them back into your car. These products almost always come with a detailed, easy to follow instructional guide though, so don't feel daunted.

Tinted Auto Light Lenses

You could always turn your light replacement problem into an opportunity to add some unique style to your car. Have you considered tinted tail or headlights? Also made with specific car brands in mind and simple installation properties, these tinted lights are a fun way to flaunt your style through your car. Be careful about replacing your old car lights with these tinted ones: not all models comply with regulations and can give you problems with the police out on the road.

Things to Remember

* Always make sure your new lights comply with federal regulations, it would a shame to get pulled over after you've put time and work into your car. * Check your work! After installation turn on all the lights in your car and have someone check the back as you press the brake.
