Ok, I gotta admit, I haven't listened to the radio since I bought my first iPod. Well, my sister gets satellite radio in her car, so I guess that probably counts. Anyway, this guide was a learning experience for me, and I hope it will be for you too.
Apparently, there are a couple of different things you might be searching for in the category of radio antenna. There's satellite radio antenna, car radio antenna, FM and AM radio antenna, and HD antenna. Here's what I found out with a bit of research: in the US all radio is transmitted in HD by law, so while you can get a standard antenna, you're better off with the HD. The only thing to consider is that an HD antenna does tend to be considerably more expensive than a standard antenna: standard antennas usually run about $5 but an HD antenna can go from $20 to $65 or more.
You might also look into radio receivers, which commonly have antennas included. Buying packaged products tends to be a better deal.
