Cockburn Porto Fine Tawny 750ml
|
|
|
Churchill's 10 Year Old Tawny starts its life like young Vintage Port. Although fully aged in wood, it still retains the freshness of youth, which is reflected in its darker brick red colour and lively finish. "Unquestionably the finest Tawny I’ve tasted in years. What makes it profound is its complex fragrance of roasted nuts and sweet fruit. There is impeccable definition and richness, a velvety texture and a long lusty finish. It is all a Tawny should be" – Robert M. Parker Jnr. – The Wine Advocate

Sandeman Tawny Porto 750Ml
Selected from the lighter wines of each year, these Portos are chosen for ageing in small oak casks to develop their style. Sandeman's Tawny Porto has the fruit and style of great Porto, but with an added finesse. Pale in colour and light in body this Port is superb as a chilled aperitif, or accompanying an appetizer, yet satisfying when served at the end of a meal.

Dow's NV 10 Year Tawny Porto
Tasting Notes - 10 Years indicates and average age this Aged Tawny Port is a blend of older wines, which offer complexity and younger wines, which bring fresh fruit flavors and vibrancy. During their long maturing period in oak casks, Aged Tawnies undergo subtle color changes: the deep red hue which characterizes Port's youth gradually gives way to a paler reddish amber color. Dow's is known for its characteristically drier house style. This 10 Year has a full, nutty bouquet with citrus and vanilla accents on the palate and a soft lingering finish.

Tawny Ports are delicious, delicate old wines which benefit from being slightly chilled, especially in warm weather. Equally, they may be served after a meal, or even during it- tawnies have the character to stand up to strong flavors, or such rich tastes as foie gras.

"Wines destined for the 30-year-old are selected early: must be dark, structured, intense wines. Lovely burnished tawny colour with a hint of ruby at the core. Beautifully nutty and spicy, with layered biscuit and toffee notes, a suggestion of dried figs and orange. The palate has lovely sweetness. The alcohol is rich and mouthfilling, but the sweetness comes through, and the toffee and honey, glycerine richness fills the mouth. Spices and sultana cake character into a long, layered, balanced finish...

Clear red amber colors with a light intense body, open up to aromas of vanilla and evolved dried fruits. The elegant harmony and fresh flavor of red fruits unfold in the mouth and combine with the complexity of wood ageing and a good finish.

Full fruit nose. Good, rich middle, with sweet, long cherries rolled in milk chocolate, a hazelnut finish. This wine sits between ten-year-old fruitiness and twenty-year-old nuttiness.

Another magnificent and finely-balanced tawny of outstanding richness and complexity. The additional ten years of aging produces a fine balance between the rich, raisiny fruit and the nutty, honeyed finish - a taste to linger over. This rare port is traditionally enjoyed as a dessert wine or at the end of the meal. -- Winemaker Notes
