I do wish I'd done a few things differently though. The sound is fantastic with the USB headset but the little speakers aren't much. I wish I could hook up my digital, Boston Acoustics that I have from an old Gateway system that I still have. I'm thinking I should have gone with the Soundblaster card (so I could hook up digital speakers). They tell me that I'm breaking up on TeamSpeak so I worry that maybe I should have gone with the 10.100.1000 card. They say I sound ok on the MSN. I wish...

Help with Build PLEASE$793.00
Status: offline Well to be the fastest loader you'll need a raptor drive or an SSD but that will eat up all of your budget. I went with the 500GB because it should use bigger platters and help with load speeds a little. The 4850 should perform very well for nearly every game.

Video Pro System - Will System Kick Butt! Work$2,743.00
First, You really need 6gigs of RAM atleast, and heres the catch which sucks and the reason that i am really waiting untill the tech is all caught up! These x58 motherboards only go up to 1600 mhz on ram speed. Well thats very good, except that the ram on these motherboards brands like ocz, kingston, coirssair, all run on 1.7volts to 1.9volts. AND GUESS WHAT? these motherboards only run at 1.65volts, anything higher and it burns out the transfer of info at that time and you start getting the problems...

Status: offline thank you, for your time. I was thinking about the i7, but i don't remember where (i think in the forums here) i read something bad about i7 i forgot what that was, so after that i started looking at quad core 9550. i think it was something along the lines of i7 not being able to support 1333 memories. i think people were saying something about bios, and giving enough voltage and it wasn't able to support it. something along those lines...I have never messed with the bios. So if i...

about graphic card detail$1,163.00
On Nvidea SLI zone they recommend at least a 750w , if you run it on the 680w that doesn't mean it won't work but running a PSU at it's max for long periods of time will cause it to die unless it was made to perform on end like that.

My First Build: Opinions/Help Welcome$3,487.00
Status: offline Well I own 4870x2 and I consider it a high maintenance card you have to tweak it to get everything working right heat will be an issue just like any high end card ATI has release better drivers for the 4870x2 to solve the Vista issues but personally I would go with the gtx295 , and the Core I7 965 is a beast I love it if you go for the 965 the Asetek LC kit works as advertise , your most likely will have to get a 6 or 12 gig kit , six should be reasonable , if your mainly gaming...

Status: offline I used the [Ship Out Next business Day] Intel Core i7 RTG configurator since I want it delivered fast and the increase when using other configurators with the same build was not that big. Status: offline I have the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro (has the external box) and it is 7.1. Original Audigy is 5.1 My question is will it work in the P6T motherboard or will it just be too old and slow? Creative does seem to have Vista drivers for it so the only issue is plugging it into the motherboard.

Power Comp - Final Build$549.00
Your CPU cooler choice will do the job for a 940@stock , it's better than H/S fan. The Asus P6T standard is a great performance MB it wouldn't make sense to upgrade to the more expensive MB unless your planning to tweak your hardware and even the P6T can do that. If you want the best video card then the GTX295 is the way to go , if you want the best performance then 2 GTX285's is the way to go unless you can afford 3 but you will have to up your PSU for 2 285'

Your laptop looks great. The one I'm thinking in buying has almost identical specs. I was ready to push the buy button until I read John talking about the lackluster performance of the graphics card (which is one of the main reason I'm buying from them). Can someone please tell me what games/MMOs have they played with this machine (or with same card) and what kind of frame rate you get?

Please review my system selection$786.00
Status: offline In all honesty, I suggest dropping the sound card & speakers and save for that after you purchase the computer. Instead of the sound card and speakers you should select something more fulfilling. How about a nicer graphics card? You can go with the ati 4850 512 or the ati 4870 512 video card considering you have a crossfire mobo. Also if you are looking to save a bit, I suggest switching to an AMD Duo, however that is my opinion.

alo how does this system look$1,290.00
Status: offline The configuration looks good. You will probably want to go with the 9600GT 512mb instead or maybe the 8800GT 512mb. The price difference should be minor. Also you will need a 600watt powersupply with that configuration. We do have a special for the 680watt powersupply.

Gaming PC for ~$1200$1,200.00
Well I may not SLI/crossfire if I have a powerful GPU. The 9800gtx+ is good but compared to its price/performance and ati card will do better in that place. I'm building this PC to stand for 5 years without any problem with the games. If AMD then I would've gone with the Phenom II. I live in Bangladesh so I cannot return the PC with ease if after shipping I find its not working. It'll be shipped to my father's place in US. Then he'll bring it along with him to me. And I said ~$1200. This can go to...

Any suggestions$1,226.00
Status: offline Thanks John, that setup has just about everything I could want :) . However, being the impatient person that I am, I was thinking of going for the ATI Radeon 4670 512MB instead, as it is nearly $100 dollars cheaper and still looks to be powerful enough to last me until I save up for an upgraded power supply/video card. Also, I was thinking of downgrading the processor to a Q6600 2.4GHz, once again for the price reduction...though on the other hand I could use extra money from the...

I've used AMD chips for years for the value/performance margins but I decided on Intel's I7 chip, 6gb ram, because I really want something a little future-proof. Status: offline I need a decent computer built for around $700-850 . I will mainly use it for Wrath of the Lich King and Itunes lol. I've been trying to make my own but i'm just not confident in my technical knowledge. I don't really want to use Vista but if its prefered I don't mind.

High temperatures can cause instability and shorten the lifespan, or even damage expensive system components. With these systems, whisper-quiet 230mm cooling fans move high volumes of air through the system to keep components running cool and quiet. This helps cool all the components inside the case, including your memory, video cards, motherboard, CPU, and power supply.

Rumor has it that you'll be able to run SLI and multi-monitor with the new Nvidia drivers that are going to come out soon. However; that 8800GT can be used as a dedicated Phys-x card in your system. I haven't tried it out too much but it should run pretty well.

Two cards are usually not better than a single one if that single one has better performance since adding a second graphics card does not double performance. The original idea of Crossfire and SLI was to create an easy way to upgrade later or put the two most powerful cards together to get even more performance than is possible with a single one.

5. Now to the video card... so many choices! The 9400 was already selected, but input would be welcome, I don't need anything unbelievable, but I want to be able to play WoW at the max settings (or near the max). Battlefield 2 etc. Second hard drive is for iTunes library. It's either this or a dell 435 from microcenter for $999. It's an i7 920, 6 gig of slower memory and a 4850 with one 750g drive. this seems a heck of a lot better and future proof for $350 more - although my better half only wanted me to spend 1k.

X48 MOBO with DDR3; X48 vs. P45$250.00
Status: offline Is there a good motherboard out there with the X48 chipset that supports DDR3, that isn't $250? I'm finding few that get good reviews. And is an X48 MOBO worth it over a P45 chipset for Crossfire? I'm trying to put together a build for a quad core gaming computer capable of Crossfire, and stuck on X48 vs. P45, especially when looking for support for DDR3 in an X48 MOBO.

Christmas Desktop Setup$903.00
Status: offline This Christmas I would like to get a setup that can play games well, but doesn't need to be able to play at maximum settings. I found this one and it looked fine to me, especially for the price. I already have a Westinghouse 22" LCD HD monitor, so that is taken care of. Would this setup work? Also, is there any sizeable difference between the AMD Phenom X4 9550 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology

825ish PC build$825.00
Status: offline Ok so here is the deal, a while back i had been in the market for a new desktop, but because i figured i did not have enough time and money to spend on it at the time, i stopped. Now though i am in need of a new desktop pc. Here the the stipulations though. Also i will not be buying anything until mid may, which still might be early.

Deluxe - CF/SLI/3 max speed x16 PCI-E slots and loaded with more refine overclocking software tools and advance tweaks via bios + Asus TurboV Remote like a NOS switch that you can hit a button and get a boost in performance if set up to do so. If your a person that plan to do basic overclocking the LE/PRO can do that. The Deluxe gives you the more advance controls and software tools to get a higher OC of components. That should help you decide where you stand.

new system build questions$100.00
Status: offline Here is a possible system we may buy. The price is higher than I would like. I am not sure of how to pick a motherboard, so am not sure if the one on there is the best choice. Where could I cut costs? Specifically, is the Killer M worth the price? We have a wireless network. Am I fine with the video card I piciked or should I spend (gads) even more and get two SLI video cards, and if so, which ones? This particular computer is for my husband who plays a lot of computer games, (MMORPGs...

almost there, help w/a couple of questions ,please$728.00
Status: offline Wow. I just bought the EXACT same setup the other day. I made the exact same adjustments to the special as you did, price and all! Well, i'll give more feed back once I get mine in but I mainly only play WoW and from what i've read, WoW doesn't benefit greatly from a quad core system so that was my deciding factor.

Status: offline Hey everyone! I found out about Ibuypower.com through my friend so I decided to check it out. And I love it! So now my question is, is this an ok spec? I'm going to use it for a lot of gaming and some schoolwork. Let me know and any advice is welcomed!

Status: offline Hey everybody, recently I was referred to iBP by my friends since I'm getting into PC gaming again. My dilemma though is I'm not well versed in the technical side of getting a computer. My last computer was a Dell infact, which performed well until becoming a huge pain. Posting from my PS3's browser atm I'm unable to copy and paste. However I can tell you my budget max is 1100 to 1200 with a little wiggle room. I'm looking to play the new MMO's and perhaps some new FPS (though...

What do you think about this build$9.00
One thing to keep inmind. You can upgrade everypart of your system easily except motherboard and cpu...So In my opinon I would go with the 965 i7 and the best motherboard you can afford then one 280card. And I agree with Katarrah with the one graphics card and make it the best..The reason i would stick with one card is, sli and crossfire right now are really unstable. One worng driver download can really mess up a sli setup, or one bad card can mess things up too. And the new gtx295 are due out...

Status: offline Add a comment at the bottom to take the removed fan from the top of the case and connect it to the side of the case. I didn't know we could do that and wish I had. Oh well. Just means I get to buy an optimal fan to plug into the fan controller I guess.

core i7 Value Build, critique please$1,199.00
Status: offline The 9800GTX would be a better choice even though it has only 512MB of ram. The 1GB doesn't really help unless you have a GTX 285 and running at a resolution of 1920x1200 or greater.

Greetings, seeking some advice$1,555.00
Third, I chose the 1000w PSU, because I couldn't figure out what brand the default 800w one is. I do not wish to have a generic one, but I was also considering the 850w CoolerMaster or Ikonik one. Should I downgrade it? I plan to use this computer for gaming, and I have no desire to do the whole SLI/Crossfire deal. I do however, plan to add another hard drive at some point.

Ultimate Multitasking$8,000.00
That's two highly demanding games (World in Conflict and Crysis) running in windowed benchmark mode, plus Counterstrike Source (spectating on some random server), plus video editing/encoding on Cyberlink Power Director 7.0. All games actually run quite smoothly (FPS in WIC doesn't dip below 23 or so even with all the rendering).

What do you guys think? Gaming/School Rig$1,415.68
Status: offline Well the problem is with 32-bit operating systems they can only address 4GB of total memory. The problem with that is Video card memory also eats away at that 4GB and anything else that uses memory. 64-bit operating systems can address far more memory space so it's no problem for those OS. XP was released as a 64-bit version, however driver support was quite poor and Microsoft no longer supports it very much, that is why we don't offer XP-64.

Since I purchased my computer, my experiences with ibuypower have been disappointing to say the least. I placed the order for my computer on August 22nd, 2005. I selected the 5-10 business days, No Rush and the computer was shipped 12 business days later. When my computer arrived on September 9th, 2005 it did not work. I plugged in my Viewsonic 191b monitor, my mx510 mouse and my logitech keyboard, powered it up and the system would not let me enter the BIOS setup. When I turned on the computer all I saw was an Asus logo. At 7:30PM I call their tech support number. I am told to leave my number and I should get a call back in a half hour. One hour later I call back and the lady on the phone tells me to wait another half hour, but I'm "next on the list" so a technician should contact me soon. I wait another hour and another. THREE HOURS and some change later Steve calls me. I explain my situation to him and he instructs me to pop open the case. I do so and he runs down a checklist of things that should be connected to the mobo. Unfortunately, my CD Burner was not connected to a power source, and my hard drive was not connected to my mobo. I turn my computer back on, and now the motherboard isn't recognizing my x800xl video card. Steve says he'll have ibuypower ship me out a new video card. This is on Friday, September 9th. I call ibuypower's on site technician the following Monday. I speak with Brian who informs me the reason my video card doesn't work is because a power cable that's supposed to connect to the back of the video card is not plugged in. So Brian has me tear off all plastic wire holders off looking for this socket thing that's supposed to connect to my video card. After 15 minutes of not being able to find it, I ask to speak with somebody else. Lee comes on the phone and he informs me that there is NO power cord that connects to my video card. Thanks Brian. I ask Lee to send me a new video card and I also ask for an upgrade. He declines, I accept. I just received the new video card today, September 15th but they sent me the wrong one. Instead of sending me a sapphire x800xl they sent me a x850 pro which actually performs WORSE on benchmarks. I couldn't believe it, they actually downgraded my video card. So I install the x850 pro into the pci express slot and the mobo is still not recognizing the video card. So I call up their tech service again and again I have to wait nearly THREE HOURS for them to call me back. This time the technician informs me that there must be something wrong with my motherboard so he's going to order another motherboard and have a tech come to my house and install it for me. I am certainly not looking forward to this experience. I have enough trouble getting technicians on the phone; actually getting one to my house will take lord only knows how much more time. It's been nearly a MONTH since I placed the order and I still do not have a functioning computer. The money was taken out of my account 3 days after I placed the order and I have nothing to show for it except a $1700 foot rest. At this point, I would certainly NOT RECOMMEND any individual do business with this company because of my horrible experience thus far. I am thankful for their 30 day money back guarantee because that appears to be the route I'm going to have to take. Unfortunately, the shipping fees will leave me approx. 120 in the hole. Oh, on a side note, I thought Steve was an excellent source of knowledge about my comp. He was polite and courteous and explained the inniards of my comp to me. And here's a link of the benchmarks of x800xl vs x850pro. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050524/index.html I will post updates as they occur. UPDATE: I sent my defective computer back and got a new one. It came October 7th. Since the last time I posted, I have been speaking with one man and one man only from ibuypower.com. I have to say, the only way I can recommend anybody do business with this company is if they work through LEE. LEE IS THE MAN. I love you man. Like the way my dad loves my mom. That kinda love. My new computer zooms.
